Feeling Stuck?

"Sometimes, when we feel stuck or stagnating - even slipping backwards, we may be backing up - to get a running start. Trust such periods of adjustment, the way a writer has to trust the stillness before the creativity starts to flow again.

The timing varies but things do change and stuckness doesn't last forever. It's about taking small, constructive steps. A little of something is better than a lot of nothing.

There are times when we lose the thread of meaning or purpose in what we're doing and go through an in-between time like when boats lose their wind and can go nowhere. Sometimes if helps to blow wind into one's own sails. Don't wait for motivation.

To progress towards your goals choose one of the following methods:

1. Find a way to quiet your mind, create empowering beliefs and positive self-talk, find your focus, affirm your power to free your emotions and visualise positive outcomes so that you can develop the confidence to generate the courage to find the determination to make the commitment to feel sufficiently motivated to do whatever it is you need to do.

2. Or you can just do it.

Until you find a new purpose, focus on the purposes that appear moment to moment. Exercise regularly, eat a balanced diet. Get enough rest. And continue to consider your next steps.

If you're stuck in some facets of your life, focus on the other facets. Find out what calls you and move with the currents. Sometimes we get caught up in one of life's eddies and there is just no current, or the wind stops and we have to blow into our own sails. Trust the process. Life isn't a constant.

Keep in mind, though, that thinking about doing something is the same as not doing it. And that chance favours those in motion."
